She walked down the aisle in the loving embrace of her father, dressed in a milky white gown, complimenting her skin tone and bedecked in jewels. She looked mesmerising. Her smile was contagious, her lips formed the perfect curve and her eyes, they appeared to twinkle like stars. It looked as if she was radiating happiness all around, with each step she was taking towards the man of her dreams.
Finally, her day has arrived and she was going to get married to the guy she loves. She felt she was the happiest woman to have ever set foot on the Earth.

But when Father asked her if she takes him, as her lawfully wedded husband, a harsh realisation came rushing towards her. “I can’t be this happy”, she thought to herself.
Yes, it has been long since she was this happy.

She remembered how she had spent last few years trying to reason with everyone, trying to explain that she understands the importance of her decision, that she wasn’t ready for that big a responsibility, that she needs to find her centre before being the centre of someone’s else life and that she wants to know the guy, have feelings for him before she is married to him. But she assumed that was too much to ask for, as no one appreciated her ‘boldness’ rather labelled her as a clear case of parenting gone wrong.

Her relatives, who until now, didn’t care if she was living or dead, had suddenly started showing a great deal of her interest in her life. She was in her twenties, and so it was their prime responsibility to see that she gets married as soon as possible. According to them, she was old enough to get married but not enough old to decide with whom.
No, no they weren’t forcing her or imposing their decision on her just convincing her to make the ‘right decision’. She had never taken any decision for herself, just meekly followed what others said but this time she had decided she was not going to let anyone intervene. A spineless creature stood up and that did hurt.

But she didn’t succumb to their wills. It was her life and hence her decision. When she wants to marry and to whom is going to affect her whole life and she is not going to let anyone ruin that for her. She tolerated everything and everyone until she came across him. And after that everything fell into place.

Standing in the middle of the church, pinching herself, with everyone glaring in her direction, eagerly waiting for her to say ‘I do’ did make her look stupid, but she didn’t care anymore.
She was not sleeping. But it was indeed a dream.

Birthday Bash 2

She : (over-brimming with joy) Hey, Happy Birthday ūüėÄ And sorry I couldn’t call at 12 .You know I’m not allowed to make calls late night.
He : Thanks. And its okay. And in fact its okay even if you haven’t called.
She : I said I’m sorry
He : No. Nothing like that. Its not such a big day for me,its like any other day. A normal day with people popping from every corner  and wishing you birthday
She : So what do you mean? You don’t like me calling you
He : Not. You are taking me wrong. I love talking to people its just that birthday’s are not important for me.
She : Oh okay. That’s weird. But anyways Happy Birthday
Birthday’s are not important. Not important. How? Even that thought makes me sad. How can it be like any other day. We were born on one specific day and that makes that day important. Its one single day . How can he be so casual about birthday. See Unhappy/sad Birthday don’t even match. Its always Happieeeee Birthday. I know we aren’t “Mahatma Gandhi” so no holiday but its our day.We buy new clothes, we get wishes, blessings and presents. And one can never stop loving presents. Wanting presents and getting excited is kind of umarless(ageless). Strange. I wish I can understand his point of view
When you expect people to wish you and they don’t because they were busy, when you expect people to be around cause its your big day and they don’t, when you are happy for your “happy birthday” and nobody notices, when you have nothing to be happy about, when even your birthday is not your day, you understand birthday’s are just any other day. I wish she never has to understand this.

The Newbie

A cold winter morning. Deep red rising sun.Gelid drops of dew on green turfs, beautiful as pearls. Clear and blue sky. Foggy misty atmosphere spreading its charm all around.

Lazy season, lazy people snuggled up in warm blankets. Closed Gates. Abandoned Streets. No or very less movement..

Amidst these, there they are, lying in the corner, basking in the mild warmth of the sun, pleading it to stay for more time and warm up their body.A cool wind blows and rejects their plea.

This is the season they choose, to multiply, to increase their numbers, to mark their presence in the future of the planet. One can see small puppies walking behind their parents, sometimes following a random trespasser in the hope of getting food. Only to be shoo’ed away later, with a feeling of disgust.

I see them searching the bins, for food. Poking their nose into packets to find something. Little do they know that the growing awareness about community hygiene, waste disposal, shortage of food for the ever growing population had left them shelterless/homeless and with no food..
A pup entered a corner house thinking his pleading eyes will make people give him food. Ha! He is no cow, giving him food will not give them a golden ticket to heaven. After the kids were entertained, he was kicked away
A fragile body, weak bones surrounded no layer of fat, was making it impossible to bear the chilly winds but he was a tough guy. He hadn’t given up on life.

His mother was wandering in the search of food on the main road and suddenly she saw her kind passing by in a luxurious car, excited she followed the car, not acknowledging that she was on the main road. When people are squelched on footpaths then who cares about her on the roads. An overspeeding  vehicle drove over her, crushing her hind limbs. She shrieked out of pain and tried to drag herself away from the road only to be hit by another vehicle.

She died.

Next day people found two dead bodies. One of her and second of her puppy. He finally gave up on life.
